Maxine Tuan is the Executive Director of St. Andrew Legal Clinic and a family law attorney. St. Andrew Legal Clinic is a non-profit family law firm providing low-cost family law services on a sliding scale based on a client’s monthly income. St. Andrew serves the counties of Multnomah, Washington, Columbia, Clackamas, and Yamhill counties, with two office locations in Hillsboro and Portland. 

Prior to rejoining St. Andrew Legal Clinic as the Executive Director, Maxine was a partner at Wyse Kadish LLP from 2017 to 2023, focusing almost exclusively on family law matters. Maxine started her career as a Staff Attorney at St. Andrew Legal Clinic’s Hillsboro office from 2015 until 2017. Maxine graduated from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2015, and was selected as a member of the Cornelius Honor Society, in which membership is based on excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service to the law school community. 

Outside of work, Maxine serves on several committees and boards for organizations focused on advancing access to justice and equity and diversity in our legal community. She is on the Board of the Oregon Women Lawyers Foundation, which helps raise funds for scholarships and grants geared towards equity, diversity, and belonging in the Oregon legal community. She is President of the Multnomah Bar Association Young Lawyers Section, and a past President of the Oregon Asian Pacific American Bar Association (OAPABA), which advances and promotes the development of AAPI attorneys throughout Oregon. Maxine continues to volunteer her time on the Advocacy Committee of OAPABA. 

Maxine has presented on the topic of professionalism frequently. Specifically, on the balance between being an advocate in family law cases while preserving the highest standards of professionalism. Maxine serves on the Education Subcommittee of the State Family Law Advisory Committee. Maxine was also a member of the Paraprofessional Licensing Implementation Committee on the Admissions Subcommittee working on issues related to qualifications to becoming a limited license legal professional.
